Elephone P8000 Smartphone

Elephone P8000 is a phone that has aroused some interest lately and that was involved in several news for two main reasons: the first is the price given that imported from China are unable to pay pay less than 200 €. The second relates to the fact that it is probably between phones with the larger battery available in Android segment.
Hardware, Materials and ergonomics:
Elephone P8000 is based on one of the latest 64-bit processors to well 3 GB of RAM, Mediatek and offers 16 GB of internal memory expandable, fingerprint reader and a 13 megapixel camera. Features hard to find at low prices and in line with the philosophy of the company. The battery p then the real strength with its 4160mAh that make it impossible to download but also difficult to lug around given the 203 grams in weight.

  • Size: 76.6 x 155.2 x 9.2 mm
  • Weight: 203 g
  • SoC: MediaTek MT6753
  • CPU: ARM Cortex-A53, 1300 MHz, Octa Core
  • GPU: ARM Mali-T720 MP3, 700 MHz
  • RAM: 3 GB, 800 MHz
  • Internal memory: 16 GB
  • Memory cards: microSD
  • Display: 1920 x 1080 pixels 5.5 inch, IPS,
  • Battery: 4160 mAh
  • Operating system: Android 5.1 Lollipop
  • Camera: 13 megapixels
  • Micro- SIM Card: SIM
  • Wi-Fi: b, g, n, Wi-Fi Hotspot
  • USB: 2.0, Micro USB
  • Bluetooth: 4.0
  • Navigation: GPS, A-GPS

Size is definitely not a little phone saw that besides the weight display is from 5.5 inches, and thickness exceeding 9 mm. Why don’t you hold very well in hand and despite the rough cover rear, slipping a bit. Great still closing the back cover that allows access, once you open the case, to two sim and microSD card that comes to maximum 32 GB.
Display:
With a Full HD resolution spread on 5.5 inch diagonal you cannot expect much more. Balanced resolution and also great screen. It is definitely not the brightest seen but viewing angles, blacks and whites are defended pretty well. Even the touch responds reactively and is pretty smooth although little oleophobic. Sometimes, however, you lose some accuracy especially writing with keyboard Google.
At the software level maximum brightness is not well managed anyway but the sensor works well if the hike between minimum and maximum is little. Nice choice of front buttons with the home button with led can switch on in case of notifications and the two dots on the sides for the back and the settings. Unfortunately cannot be reversed by means of software functions and keys are mapped into style Kitkat (to get by holding the home button opens multitasking).
Good fingerprint sensor but it is not foolproof as on other smartphones listed on Whereversmartphone, and it doesn’t unlock the phone-you will need to first press the power key.
Drums, Audio and reception:
With ben 4160mAh available it’s hard to stay on foot during the day and use it a lot, thanks to a brilliant display at night you arrive without problems with a 30% charge remaining.
Enough audio. Although the volume in call is good is not always clear the caller and generally is not considered like other similar smartphones. Decent through the speaker.
Not bad reception that takes just about anywhere and do not miss the LTE 800 band. Good Wi-Fi as receiving but it may happen that the data network hang with a necessary connection and out to restore connectivity. Simply managing Dual SIM that has all those features typical of Mediatek but is more limited than firmware Kitkat or other products Dual.
Software:
Android 5.1 in Italian with Play Store and virtually few real customization. A product so interesting that it is “suitable” even the less familiar with modding though obviously is only recommended for advanced users. The operating system includes a launcher application menu and free modified with a particular folder management. Definitely fast but not very intuitive and smart. Changing in a few clicks.
Hardware level we have a great power and a lot of RAM memory available allows many programs making the system fluid and fast. The phone is responsive in all classical operations, launching applications and movement between the many menus even though sometimes you notice a bit of rubberiness especially when typing text.
The Internet moves very well with Chrome and well with the stock browser that does not always respond perfectly to finger pinch. Nothing still problematic and navigation remains pleasant.
Elephone P800 also does not heat up a lot and is only lukewarm in case of high stress of use.
Camera and Multimedia:
Not perfect photographic Department which sees 13 megapixels as maximum resolution and they let you take pictures in General. The interface isn’t particularly modern and is the classic Mediatek. The HDR works fine and it is often necessary to illuminate the scene tends to be too dark.
Good video and audio multimedia player part that are old ones of Android and then graphically little modern while good performance with games.
Conclusions:
Elephone P8000 is a product that definitely intrigues and offering a great hardware at a price all things considered small (then it depends on how you have it). Unfortunately there is some flaw in software and some problems with the audio portion and other minor imperfections. All things potentially fixable in software but it is difficult at the moment to have certainty.
